Return to the Present with Five Senses

3 minEasy (for everyone)10 points
Start

Sit or stand comfortably with your eyes open. Notice, one by one, small sensations of sight, touch, sound, smell, and taste. Skip any step that feels uncomfortable.

What are the benefits of this exercise?

  • Helps pull the mind back to the present from the pull of past or future thoughts
  • Increases connection and attention to your body and surroundings, especially during an emotional wave
  • Builds enough focus to move into your next small task

How to do this exercise

Gently place both feet on the floor. If seated, feel the weight of the chair.

Look around and silently name the things you see.

Notice the touch of your clothes, the chair, your phone, or the air.

4

Listen for sounds close by and far away, separately.

5
